Trip 3
Location: Joubertsdam
Visibility: 3-4m
Water Temp: 18.5’C
Sharks Sighted: 11
Conditions: Calm

First day of the New Year was a good one with double figure sightings on each of the tree trips! On this one we found our first shark as we pulled up and got to 11 before we headed home. The largest of the sharks was a large male who moved in towards the end of the trip. It’s  a little unusual to see such a large male in Joubertsdam but he’s one of several in the bay right now. We had a jellyfish which swam amoung the sharks, several took a good look at it but luckily for the jelly none took any bites out of it! We also sighted a shark with fishing line entangled around its head. This looks like a shark we sighted last year when we tried, but ultimately failed to clear the line from it. It appears to have survived another year and the line looks to be coming lose. We’ll take a closer look the next time we sight it and perhaps then we can remove it once and for all.

If you are looking to get up close and personal with the great white shark then Shark Diving in South Africa, and more specifically with Marine Dynamics, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you won’t want to miss.
