Despite the strong west winds and choppy conditions, we had a fantastic trip today! The shark activity started quickly upon arrival and just kept building. It wasn’t only the sharks providing the entertainment, but also a Short-tailed Stingray, who kept appearing beneath the decoy, they seem to be becoming quite the regular these days. We had a vast range of shark sizes, varying from 2.4m up to an impressive 4.2m. Among the bunch were two of our favourite most active sharks, “PE”, the acoustically tagged shark from Port Elizabeth and “Alvin”. Both Alfred and Khwezi, our bait and decoy handlers, have to be on their toes whenever “Alvin” is around the boat, this 3.3m male loves his surprise attacks from the deep and he has no preference over bait or decoy, he’ll go for them both! He is definitely a crowd pleasing shark…
