After a few days of heavy winds, we were glad to be out at sea once more. We headed out early this morning and after a short trip over a flat sea, we arrived at our dive-site. Our guests got into their wetsuits, and it wasn’t long before the first copper sharks arrived. Soon a Cape fur seal popped up briefly as well. One copper shark showed some incredible enthusiasm, trying to go for the bait several times. Towards the end of the trip, our guests saw a Southern right whale in the distance as well. Overall a beautiful trip.
The second trip launched as the swell continued to come down. We reattached the cage and were soon greeted by our favorite copper sharks. The mischievous cape fur seal continued it’s efforts to torment some of the smaller fish around the boat, popping up just when they weren’t expecting it. After everyone had a chance in the cage, we headed back to the harbour after a successful trip.
Our third trip of the day started a bit slower. In fact, we ended up having to change our anchor location. Once we were settled at our new spot it made quite a difference. The seal from earlier continued to amuse our guests with its antics and quick movements around the boat. It was also interesting to see that one of the copper sharks had a large wound. Our sharks face a lot of challenges in the oceans, but it is incredible to see just how hardy they can be. Thank you for your patience today as we tried to get everyone some nice views from the cage.
