Saturday in the shallows hoping for sharks! We anchored at our dive sight this morning in lovely sunshine and got ready for our cage dive. We were joined by the copper sharks fairly quickly this morning, with a couple of really small individuals out there, around 1m. As these are schooling sharks, once you see one, it isn’t long until more come and join the party to check out Slashfin and the cage divers. We had some excellent close encounters with some of the larger sharks around 2.5-3m, and even 2 stingrays today as well! So plenty of time was spent underwater in awe of the wildlife that we have in the bay at the moment.
For our second trip the sunshine was truly out in force, and we were heating up nicely on the water. Within minutes the Copper sharks were back and we hopped in the cage to get face to face with these stunning sharks. The sharks came fast and thick with constant sightings throughout the trip as this schooling species made close passes by the cage and boat.
Our final trip was an exclusive trip of 4 joining us from Germany. Again we had our Copper sharks working very well around Slashfin, and some super activity as two of our guests took to the water to experience these animals underwater. The Short-tailed stingrays came for a visit towards the end of the trip with two gliding in and out of view. We all had a fantastic trip and left having faced sharks face to face! To finish off the trip we made a pass by the Islands and had a closer look at the ever fascinating and active Cape Fur seal with an added bonus on the way out of Shark Alley of a mother calf pair of Humpback whales, a beautiful sight to end the day!
