Sightings:  Great White Sharks, Bronze whalers, Short tailed Stingray and Cape Fur seal

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Moderate

Visibility: Poor

We started off our morning in the shallows, with some beautifully calm weather. We had copper sharks nice and quick to start this trip off. So our divers got into the cage and up close with these sharks. We had some good activity to start with, but we’d heard rumours of a white shark around so we decided to move our anchor site. While we moved Shaun the shark cruised by us and we set up and waited to see if he would come join us by the cage. We got some stingrays and a couple of copper sharks again as our next group got in, then our patience paid off, and Shaun gave us a mighty show for the end of our trip! At one point we also had a cape fur seal cruising behind him as he checked out what was going on around the boat! All in all a wonderful trip!

Our next trip headed back to the shallows in the hope that the great whites were still hanging around, and within minutes we got ourselves our first great white shark! This was Shaun the shark, a estimated 3.3m male Great White, unfortunately he did not stick around long and we did not see him for the rest of the trip, however this gave the Bronze whalers the chance to shine. We had multiple sightings and near continuous activity for these sharks throughout the entire trip, as shark after shark approached the boat and made some stunningly close passes by the cage and divers within.
