With a low tide in the morning, Slashfin launched a little bit later this morning, with beautiful conditions. The sun was shining with a light breeze and as we anchored we wondered what Mother Nature had in store for us today. We didn’t have to wait long for our first shark to arrive, but it didn’t stick around for long. Eventually another shark arrived, entertaining everyone on board. It was a Copper shark filled morning and unfortunately the White sharks were ivaded us on this trip.
The second trip launched on Dream Catcher and an hour after anchoring we had a Copper shark coming up to the boat and this group was lucky to have this shark staying around for most of the trip, giving all of the divers some lovely views as it passed several times close to the cage.
The third trip was back on Slashfin and this time our luck was a little bettter. We had some great sightings of a few Copper sharks but also with some periods of slow activity. We also spotted a large White sharks in the very far in the distance, however it did not approach and seemed to have little interest in interacting with any of the boats.
Back on anchor again for the second shark cage diving trip on Dream Catcher, things were a little slow in the beginning but after a slight anchor change our sightings improved for the afternoon. The first Copper shark that came in gave us a great show with a few close passes by the cage before disappearing into the depths again. With a little bit of patience and some fun antics with those waiting cage the shark re-appeared and gave us a couple more passes before yet again heading off.
The final shark trip of the day was off to a great start as our guests were just finishing up with putting on their wetsuits when the first Copper shark appeared. We hoped that the sightings would continue for the rest of the trip as the theme today seemed to be appearing and disappearing, we did experience this but not to such an extent and all three of our cages were able to view the Copper sharks under the water with some fantastic passes by the cage and nice views of the animals from the boat.
