Today was truly a day for the Copper sharks. The first group of guests left Kleinbaai harbour on board Slashfin bright and early and made their way into the Shallows. Upon arrival we patiently waited for a glimpse of the elusive White shark. A dark silhouette slowly made its’ way towards the boat and as it neared we saw we had our first Copper shark of the day! These Copper sharks have become quite a frequent sighting from the boats in the bay and we can see multiple individuals during the day as they’re known to move in pairs or more. We also the Short-tailed stingrays join us for a visit this morning but unfortunately no White sharks.

The second trip of the day launched and this group also practiced patience onboard as they waited for sharks to arrive. The Copper sharks were yet again present after a quick change of anchor as was the Short-tailed stingray. The excitement came when a White shark was spotted on the surface in the distance, small in size, a tiny juvenile it appeared and one that did not want to approach the boat but move further away unfortunately.

The third and final trip of the day had Copper sharks and Short-tailed stingrays around almost instantly, passing by the boat nicely and gliding up from the depths, however within the hour activity had slowed yet every now and again we were lucky enough to have the animals reappear.

A tricky day in regards to White shark sightings, with plenty of Copper sharks and Short-tailed stingrays around. We thank all of our guests for joining us and taking the chance on these wild animals, we truly appreciate everyones patience and understanding…
