An early morning awaited our morning shark cage divers, but it mean’t we had the whole morning to enjoy the seas and try to find some sharks. The early morning start came in handy with the sharks being a little on the slow side today! The first shark to arrive turned up close to an hour after we anchored and happened to be a very tiny and very shy White shark, who didn’t seem keen to stick around or get close so we moved anchor to try our luck else where. The second anchor saw “Caroline” turn up, a feisty juvenile female who stuck with us most of the rest of the trip. We also had some interesting birds around the boat this morning with a Caspain Tern and Cape Gannet passing by, it was nice to see some other bird species in the shallows! The second trip of the day launched with some increased wind and swell but this didn’t deter the sharks and we had a small shark around the boat within 30 minutes of getting back onto our dive site! This smaller juvenile took a few passes by the cage then became very interested in some kelp floating near by, this behaviour just goes to show just how curious White sharks are in objects on the surface of the water! Not too much later and “Caroline” returned and yet again stuck with us for the rest of the trip taking it in turns with the other sharks to come by, including a large male who has been visiting us for close to two weeks now and a new addition in the form of a large, pale female with barely any marks or scars on her! Thank you to everyone that joined Marine Dynamics today…
