Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: 13.2°C + 13.4°C

Depth: 7.9m + 9.1m

Visibility: 3.0m + 3.0m

Conditions: a fog filled morning

The fog horns could be heard all around Gansbaai this morning. Instead of “Gorillas in the Mist”, we had “Sharks in the Mist”. However, the fog did not keep the copper sharks away. They actually came to visit us quite quickly after we got anchored. We once again had lovely visibility allowing the divers to really make eye contact with the sharks underwater. With consistent activity, everyone was able to take in these magnificent sharks.

For our second trip we once again headed out into a thick mist. Thankful for modern technology (GPS), our skipper found our shark cage quickly. The crew attached the cage to the vessel and our guests jumped into their wetsuits. As the mist hung around Slashfin, the copper sharks gathered once more, and even a cape fur seal came around. Halfway through the trip the mist disappeared and our guests finally got a view of the beautiful area. The highlight of the trip was when the 2.5m white shark came around. Our divers were ecstatic as the white shark repeatedly tried to grab the bait. Even Dream Catcher, the whale watching vessel, came around to enjoy the spectacle. We ended the trip on a high and our guests left with a memorable trip.
