Sightings:  Great White Shark

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Moderate

Visibility: Poor

A wild day out on sea with some larger and stronger conditions lingering from a storm that passed through the area yesterday, and whilst the boat trip itself may have been a little up and down the shark activity was up the entire time. We had the bay to ourselves today and within moments of anchoring the telltale shadow of a large White shark making its’ way up our chum slick was seen as the magnificent creature that is Clampy appeared. This female Great White is estimated at 4.5m in length and is an animal that has been involved in studies previously conducted in the Gansbaai area on White shark movement and behaviour. We could not have asked for more amazing action as this shark stuck with us the entire trip, cruising by closely and slowly but then disappearing and making us wait a little while before surprising us with that classic Great White shark ambush approach from the deep. A fantastic morning of Great White shark cage diving and viewing thanks to Clampy, a shark I’m sure our guests today will not forget soon!
