Location: Gansbaai, South Africa

Dive site: Joubertsdam

Water temp: Moderate

Visibility: Poor

Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Short-tail stingray, Common dolphins, Cape fur seal + African penguins

Trip Summary: An exciting afternoon on the water! Despite the slight rain, spirits were not dampened, as our departure from Kleinbaai Harbour led us to incredible activity from multiple species. A large pod of Common dolphins were actively feeding in the shallow bay, amongst Cape fur seals and African penguins, all of which can be sighted in the wider Dyer Island ecosystem At the dive site, it was only a short moment before the Bronze whaler sharks arrived. As divers were already in their wetsuits, they promptly climbed into the cage to experience the sharks up close. In addition to the Bronze whaler sharks, two Short-tail stingrays made an appearance, one that has been in the bay since 2018 and a more recent individual identified just last month! An incredible day of marine life, thank you to everyone who joined us on board Slashfin!
