The bay had cleard up for a beautiful day out on the water. We headed into the Shallows and had a little wait for the sharks to show up. However once they had shown up more followed on! The sharks that showed up this morning were all individuals that we had seen before including the largest of the day, a 4.5m female that last visited the bay back in August last yea r and one of our acoustically tagged animals, a small male known as “Francois” who was tagged last December. The second trip of the day saw sharks around almost immediately with a large White cruising off the front of the boat before some smaller ones cruised in. The visibility at the start of the day was not the greatest and had unfortunately decreaed as the day had gone on with both some sediment and algae making things difficult however we had a number of sharks making up for the lack of water clarity. The sharks we saw on the second trip included the same animals we had seen on the previous trip with one exception and a great one it was. During our last cage “Rosie” showed up and made some terrific, slow passes by the cage. Both trips today had Short-tailed stingrays glide up from the depths. A sunny, shark-filled day in the Shallows..
