A early start to the day for our divers and the White sharks as well. I think one word sums up this today…WOW! Whilst the clarity of the water was not the nicest the sharks and other animals of the bay were out to play! The first trip launched early this morning and was met by “Little Smithy” approximately 30 minutes after we had put down anchor, soon after followed another of our smaller females, “Mandy”! Both these sharks are amazing to have around the boat and are a fantastic start to any day! We also had some Humpback dolphins adding to the excitement! The middle trip today saw a great number of White sharks around the boat including some new fins including “Pieter”, a small male with white spots on both sides on the dorsal fin and a large female the tip of her dorsal fin missing! The sharks were “flying” around this trip with some truly awe-inspiring moves! Whilst the third and final trip of the day didn’t have as many sharks as was seen on the previous trips, you have to remember that its not always about numbers but about the activity of the sharks and these sharks were cooking! We had three very large individuals, over the 3.8m length and two juveniles set on showing the boat the reason why these animals have earnt the name “GREAT”! A Short-tailed stingray paid a visit before diving back into the depths to make room for more shark action! A astonishing day to be a shark cage diver or just an observer on the boat…
