An early start again this morning, but dolphins! As we headed to our anchor site this morning a small group of around 10 Bottlenose Dolphin joined us for some early morning bow-riding, which was awesome. A great way to watch the spectacular sunrise this morning, and as we geared up the crew spotted a shark by the cage! It was Sarko again, and she was up and ready to give us a great performance this morning. But then we were seeing double as Scarlett also joined us! The lucky ladies of the bay were gliding gracefully for long periods of today’s morning trip. We also had a brief glimpse of a copper shark, and a Stingray that may have been taking White Shark lessons, as he toyed with ‘Sally’ the seal decoy!
The second trip of the day launched with an increase in the wind but still a nice time to be out on the water. We didn’t have long to wait for the first shark to appear, not a White shark but a Copper shark. Throughout this trip we had two different Copper sharks approaching the boat and cage, making for some nice sightings and something extra for our guests. The main species of shark we were looking for, the Whites, didn’t take much longer to appear with a small female known to us as ‘Sarko’ surprising us all as she approached from the deep. She came and went throughout the trip and amongst the Copper shark sightings and it wasn’t till towards the end of our trip that our second White shark showed up, another female but much larger, it was ‘Scarlett’ one of our Iconic White sharks and one that our guests might be lucky to see in the bay every year previously in the months of August and September.
A beautiful Sunday out in the bay with the sharks.
