Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 14.0’C + 14.1’C
Depth: 9.3m + 10.4m
Visibility: 2.0m + 2.0m
Number of Sharks: 7 + 4
Conditions: Overcast skies with little swell anda low wind.

A grey start to the day with some overcast conditions, however the water was flat and there was little wind around making for a confortable day in the shallows. We anchored and waited for just on an hour enjoying the beautiful scenery this area has to offer before we decided that it was really time for the sharks to get a wriggle so instead of waiting for them we decided to try find them elsewhere so moved slightly and within moments we had our first shark. The sheer numbers and activity of the sharks that appeared here was fantastic. We had two very nice larger females with completely different behaviour around the boat, one was slow providing those on board and in the water a great view of the entire shark and also great opportunities for photographs, the other was quick and feisty and was continuously making attempts on both the decoy and bait line. The second trip might not have had as many sharks as the first trip but the activity was still fantastic when the sharks were around! Both trips were very lucky on our way back to the harbour to come across a small pod of Humpback dolphins, these are thought to be the shyest of the dolphin species we see in this area so great experience for the groups to have! A all round fantastic day out on the water…
