Sightings:  Bronze whalers, Short-tail stingray and Cape Fur seal

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Moderate

Visibility: Moderate

A beautiful Sunday morning awaited us today as we enjoyed the sunrise over the bay and an escort of two Subantarctic skuas to our anchor spot. Once on site we didn’t have to wait long for the sharks to arrive as the Bronze whalers made their appearance. We had a number of large individuals visit throughout the trip, most of which were females with one male sighted. The Short-tail stingray also joined us for the morning, with much of the second half of the trip seeing this graceful animal glide up from the depths.

For our second trip of the day it was back to the shallows to go and check for some sharks. We got some copper sharks nice a quick on this trip, so we got our divers in the cage and upclose with some of these awesome sharks! We had steady activity on this trip with our divers getting some great views of the sharks both from the cage and on the decks of Slashfin. Mid-way through the trip we also got to see a cheeky cape fur seal pop up around the boat, just chilling in the shallows. We finished up the trip with some more copper sharks and then headed back to the harbour.
