Trip 1
A beautiful Friday to be out on the water for some shark cage diving. This morning’s trip did not wait long for their first sightings with a large female over 4.0m in length showing up only 15 minutes after we did, minutes later a small juvenile also made an appearance, a female known to us as “Sarko”.Things then became very quite for over an hour before another female showed up. This one we know very well as on the first of December last year she was fitted with an acoustic tag and has since retained this tag. Furthermore this trip enjoyed one more shark before we headed back to land, a tiny female by the name of “Gigi.

Trip 2
The second trip of the day started off with another small female around, one who has been a regular visitor to Slashfin the past few weeks. This trip finally saw our first male White shark of the day, a large animal just under 4.0m in length however once this male left two more female White sharks appeared as well as two Bronze Whalers, another species of shark seen around this time of the year.

Trip 3
The third and final trip of the day launched and had much success with a shark arriving soon after we did. This first shark was “Pieter” a sub-adult male well known to the Marine Dynamics team as he was tagged and biopsied in 2015. Differing from the first two trips, this one was dominated by the males with four out of the seven turning up throughout the afternoon having claspers, the indicator for the male gender. Whilst this trip saw sharks under the 4.0m mark in length the activity was fantastic.
