Our first trip for today, was an exclusive for the people from the African Marine Mammal Colloquim. The conference was held this year at the Great white house in Kleinbaai. They lauchend early in the morning at 7:00, but were super lucky and got to see some Great White sharks staright away at our dive site the Geldsteen. After having a closer look at the sharks we were heading towards Geyser Rock to show them the Cape Fur seals.

We were back in the Geldsteen today after a few days in the Joubertsdam and the temperature had risen a little bit, the visibility had cleared a little as well and the sharks were plentiful. The first shark was around within moments of the boat being on anchor and the activity remained pretty constant for most of the trip as shark after shark appeared. The largest shark of this trip was one we know very well and many of you may also know her, it is Maureen, a White shark tagged by Ocearch in 2012, at that time she measured in at 4.5m and we now estimate her around 4.7m in length. If you would like to see where Maureen has been visit the Ocearch website here. Before heading back to the harbour we visited Shark Alley to see the many Cape Fur seals that inhabit Geyser Rock and form a large part of the White sharks diet in this area.

What a wonderful second trip.  The visibility was fantastic compared to the past few days.  Everyone in the cage could clearly see the different markings on the sharks.  We had several large sharks which were also extremely active around the boat.  It was also a lucky day for seals.  We witnessed two different predation attempts.  The seal was certainly living dangerously, but they ultimately got away.
