Sightings:  Great White Sharks, Bronze whalers, Short tailed stingray

Location: Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: Moderate

Visibility: Poor

We started our trip with a ride out facing easterly wind. Once we got to our dive location we started waiting for the sharks to arrive. Everyone changed into their wetsuits back on land so that was out of the way. And couple of minutes after we started the chum process, the first shark appeared, it was a juvenile white shark at about 2.4m, quickly going for the bait. Any white shark is a white shark but it is always so impressive to see a large specimen, which we managed to do: our second shark of the trip was a 4.5 female, named Clampy. She was extremely fast and sneaky today going for the baits from deep down below. Everyone was lucky enough to see her underwater. An unexpected sighting of the day , however, was a Giant Petrel sitting on the water just infront of the cage. And just as the last cage were about to come out we got ourselves a completely new shark that we haven’t seen yet in our area! It was a 3.8m female white shark, swimming at some incredible speeds!! What a day out at sea! Happy and excited we headed back to the harbour looking forward to warming up with some nice hot soup.
