The first trip launched bright and early and we were able to catch the sunrise coming over the mountains which is always a great start to the day. It was a little chilly out there so we enjoyed some hot chocolate whilst we waited for a White Shark to make its appearance. After quite a wait, we had just started to give up hope when a small 2.5m female tuned up by the bait, spotted by one of our eager divers. Although she did not stick around for too long, a couple of us were able to get a few nice views and snap some pics. Later in the trip, a lucky few were able to have another sighting as what could possibly be a larger shark surfaced and disappeared quickly. Unfortunately this shark did not reappear so, we decided to head back to the harbour. On the way in, we were lucky enough to spot two Humpback Whales just off of Danger Point, which made for a great end to the first trip of the day.
The second trip launched back out of Gansbaai and around Danger Point back into the Shallows where we hoped we would pick up where the first trip ended. Unfortunately it was not to be and whilst a Short-tailed stingray glided gracefully up to the surface and one point no other sightings were had.
The third and final trip of the day launched with those on board and our team back on land with fingers crossed that we would finish the day with a shark sighting! No matter how much we hoped for this it did not happen and we made our way back towards land later in the afternoon.
We truly hope that we have some good news soon on White shark sightings in the area again and we yet again express our gratitude to our guests for their patience and understanding.
