Date:  25-07-2015

Location:
Geldsteen

Water Temperature: 14.0C + 14.0C
Depth: 17.0m + 16.6m
Visibility: 2m + 2m
Number of Sharks: 8 + 9
Conditions:  A beautiful day with lots of sunshine, weak winds and a bit of swell

After a no sea day due to a cold front including rain and swell above 4m we were glad that we could launch again. We were curious to see what we’d find out at sea as things often change after a storm. We headed towards the Geldsteen and were surprised to spot the first shark after only 5 minutes! This was a good sign and we started diving straight away. We ended up with 8 sharks during our first trip varying in size from 2.5m to 4.3m in length. The 4.3m shark was a female we know as Clampy! She was around some time ago but it’s great to have her back. We launched at 13.30 for the second trip and headed back to the Geldsteen. The visibility was a bit limited as the swell was still around 3m, stirring up the sediment. The sharks were fortunately still around and we spotted 9 sharks in total varying in size from 2.4m to 4.2m in length. It’s great to see lots of sharks in the area, hopefully they will stick around for some time!
