Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Poor
Sightings: Bronze Whaler sharks, Broadnose Sevengill shark, Orcas, Short-tail Stingray + Cape fur seal
Summary: We launched into some swelly conditions this morning, but that didn’t stop the excitement. Our guests quickly suited up in their wetsuits, just in time, as the Bronze Whaler sharks made their appearance Well before everyone was ready! The action kicked off in spectacular activity with up to 15 individual sharks circling our cage. We were also lucky enough to spot a prehistoric Broadnose Sevengill shark, along with a familiar short-tail stingray comin close. Then, suddenly, everything went quiet… Moments later, a Cape fur seal swam close around the cage, raising a few eyebrows, and then it all made sense. Port and Starboard, the infamous Orcas, made a surprise appearance! This was our first sighting since June, 2023! The pair stayed close to our boat, offering breathtaking views and an unforgettable experience for everyone onboard. What a day on the water! A huge thank you to all our guests for joining us on this remarkable adventure!
