It was a lovely day to be out on the water today but the sharks took some time to get their tails into action! We had close to an hour wait this morning when a very small juvenile popped up to say hello and promptly dissappeared after! Another hour passed without any activity so it was decided that we would try another area in the bay and within moments of re-anchoring we had a very nice, active male White shark around that entertained all the cages until the very last one. This is when “Ingrid” made herself known! Measuring in at approximately 4.2m she is hard to miss as she gracefully glides by, the damage to her dorsal fin also makes her very memorable, but today her activity was one to remember as she made multiple close passes by the cage, constantly circling the boat and on a few occassions breaking the surface of the water and showing off her pearly, pointy whites! A great way to end any trip. The second trip of the day was an exclusive for three friends from the United States who were going out for their second trip after joining us on Tuesday. The conditions had started to change for this trip however the seas were still confortable as the girls took to the cage straight away with a shark around the boat five minutes after arrival. This shark was a juvenile female, and a new addition for us, with some scarring making her easy to identify and a new name, “Caroline” after one of the groups family members. This shark stuck with us the whole trip and showed some of the most active behaviour we have seen recently! We also welcomed a large female, close to the size of the cage, and “Scarlett” a little later on and finally a very small juvenile, one of the smallest we would see in the area swam by just as we were preparing to head back to land. A exciting day with the White sharks…
