Location: Joubertsdam

Temperature: 13.6°C + 14.3C + 14.2C

Depth: 8.4m + 8.3 m + 7.8m

Visibility: 1m + 1m + 1m

Conditions: A warm day with a few clouds in the sky and practically no wind.

We headed out this morning with the sun sitting just over the mountains. There was a little swell on the waters, but barely any wind. When we arrived at The Shallows the crew quickly put the cage in the water. While our guests put their wetsuits on, the first Cape fur seals and Copper sharks arrived. The divers got into the cage and saw these beautiful animals pass closely by the cage. As the trip progressed the sharks became more active, and our guests enjoyed their beautiful colours in the morning sun. Soon we had to head back, but our guests left Marine Dynamics with a new set of fantastic memories.

Once more it was a great afternoon to go back to sea, excited guests left the Great White House behind and were thrilled to start their adventure. As soon as we got to our dive location, sharks started visiting us. Divers quickly jumped into their wetsuits and first 9 entered the cage. Copper sharks were amazing around the cage, giving the chance for everyone to appreciate their beauty and grace. Once more we were visited by a couple of Cape Fur Seals. And although we don’t usually have smaller sharks, like catsharks, around the boat, one of the seals was kind enough to bring one in his mouth and play with it in front of some of our guests. Happy and a little bit sad that it was over, we headed back to the harbour.

We were very priveleged to have quite a few youngsters on the third trip of the day.  I absolutely love the enthusiasm for wildlife that we can inspire at a young age.  Hannah, who is 3, became our youngest diver yet and she did such a fantastic job in the cage.  Hopefully we’ve helped to inspire a lifelong love and appreciation for the world’s oceans.
