This morning started off overcast yet cleared in no time to a beautiful day. We had a slow start with the sharks today, with two sharks sighted straight away yet with no interest in staying around we chose to move. The second anchor site proved just as unsuccessful but we hit the good spot on our third anchor and had a number of great, active sharks around for the end of the trip. This afternoon saw a phenominal number of sharks around the boat, unlike anything we have seen this year so far. This included some sharks we know very well, some we have seen over the past few days and some new additions. We had “Francois”, a small shark that was acoustically tagged by Dyer Island Conservation Trust last December, we also had “Rosie” around and she yet again stole the show! There was a very lucky Cape Cormorant enjoying a rest on the surface waters this afternoon. This bird nearly became shark food as a large White shark cruised in to investigate the interestng shadow on the surface. Things ended well for the Cormorant as it flew out of harms way to live a another day in the bay. He largest shark of the day showed up this afternoon, a large female about 4.5m in length with some fresh bite marks on her right flank, a truly awe-inspiring sight. We had a few sightings of the Short-tailed Stingrays on both trips today, though they did not stick around long and bearly broke the surface leaving space for the sharks to cruise uninterupted. An exciting day on board Slashfin…
