It was great to be out on the water again after two days off due to bad weather even if we were up and at ’em before the sun! A little bit of coffee went a long way and soon enough we were out on the water making our way into the Shallows as the first boat on anchor. Within minutes we had our first shark sighting in the form of a Copper shark, a schooling species that didn’t dissapoint with atleast three different individuals visiting during this trip. Unfortunately a White shark did not make an appearance this morning.

The second trip of the day launched in the hopes of seeing the Copper sharks too but also fingers crossed for a White shark. We had the Copper sharks around quickly and whilst the second cage and the guests on board were enjoying the views of this species a small White shark appeared out of the depths. This was the small male that previous guests have dubbed ‘Fortnight’ due to the fact it was our first White shark sighting last week after a 14 day period of no Whites around. He didn’t stick around too long but perhaps this has something to do with the presence of a slightly larger male White shark that came cruising by soon after. This male was a bit more bold than the smaller one and made some jawsomely close passes by the cage leading to screams of delight that were sure could be heard throughout the bay. We also had a Short-tailed stingray glide by briefly as well as a Cape Fur seal. A Marine Dynamics Big 3 trip…White, Coppers and Stingrays!

Back on the water for Slashfin’s third trip with the hopes the White shark sightings would continue. The Copper sharks yet again made their presence known and ruled the trip with the Coppers coming and going through out but no glimpse of those elusive White sharks. Just goes to show how unpredictable these things are!

The final trip of the day was an exclusive for a couple visiting from the United States.
