Launching from Gansbaai harbour this morning is always a great start to the day! With a lovely ride round Danger Point we approached the shallows and got ready to anchor up. As the crew organised the cage, we got our divers geared up and ready to get into what is nearly bath water temperatures at the moment! We had the copper sharks around the boat quickly this morning, and our first group of divers got straight in. Lawrence, an 8 year old conservationist, was loving his first time in the cage getting face to face with these amazing sharks! He even gave it another go, and helped the guys at the back of Slashfin out with some of the bait! With the activity of the copper sharks fairly consistent all of our divers got a wonderful view of the bronzies! We were visited briefly at the end of the trip by a huge short tailed stingray as well! We finished up this trip and headed back to Kleinbaai!
For our second trip it was straight back to the shallows. It appeared that the stingray was hanging around in the shallows to show off for our second group as it joined with the copper sharks, pretty quickly as we anchored up. In to the cage our divers got and with some nice visibility today, the sharks were in stunning form for our cage divers. We also got a visit from a cape fur seal half way through the trip, cruising around Slashfin with some speed. As our divers got up close to some very curious copper sharks we began to finish up for the day, with Christmas soon approaching we all have a white shark on our list, so here’s hoping and we shall sea what happens during the festive period.
