Conditions: Overcast with a break in clouds later in the day.
An overcast day in Gansbaai with plenty of sharks! Despite the clouds overhead, we had a large female shark who was 4.2 meters come to the cage within 20 minutes of anchoring at The Geldsteen. She hung around for a bit until another smaller female came around. There were 4 sharks in all for the first trip, all of whom put on quite a show! The second trip was a bit slower. We moved anchor twice, but immediately upon anchoring the last time, we had two sharks approach the boat! Not long after they came to check out the divers, a juvenille shark came by to see what was going on. It was only 1.5 meters in length and was still learning how to hunt! It bumped the decoy numerous times before attempting an ambush attack on the bait line. It was the cutest shark that we have seen in a while! It was quickly followed by two larger sharks who gave our divers an amazing show. One shark did a full breach right in front of the cage! What lucky divers!!
