The early alarms may have been touchy issue for our guests this morning but being out on the water on such a fantastic day with sharks is hopefully well worth it! Today we experienced what I would like to term the “Marine Dynamic’s Big 3”, that is the White shark, Copper shark and the Short-tailed stingray. The White sharks turned up quickly with multiple animals arriving within seconds of each other as many of the large females in the bay currently took it in turns to make passes and attempts on the decoy and bait lines. The tiny juvenile White sharks then appeared, two sharks that we estimate at only 2.0m in length, one is a little on the shy side whilst the other one keeps up pace with the larger, sometimes more dominating White sharks. We also had ‘Sarko’, one of DICT’s adopted sharks from 2016 make an appearance quickly and two new individuals including a large, very darkly coloured female, nearly pristine without any marks or scars on her. The Coppers came and went when the White sharks would allow them a chance and the Short-tailed stingrays graced us with their presence whenever they saw fit as they usually do.
The second trip of the day saw the Copper sharks the first to come cruising on by however within 20 minutes the Whites joined the party. This trip we had 6 white sharks join the party! There was a lot of graceful passes this afternoon, as the sun gradually began to burn through the clouds. The pale 2m female was a standout on this trip with a lot of action! We had a nice mixture of large and small females today, and the number of sharks speaks for itself, a fantastic day today.
