With sharks on the mind this Saturday, we were keen to get out and on the water this morning. We went straight out to the shallows and dropped the cage and got ready to go diving. Within minutes of getting suited up we had the copper sharks back around Slashfin this morning. Curious as ever, they were checking out our guests in the cage and showing off for the cameras! Soon after the stingrays popped up to say hello and investigate what was going on around the boat! We had 4 copper sharks on this first trip and a single stingray. What’s more on the way back to the harbour we briefly encountered a pair of Southern Right Whales just chilling outside the harbour. So that was a nice way to round the trip off!

For our second trip this morning, we had a quick turnaround and were back on the water. The copper sharks were basically waiting for us upon our return, so excitement levels were high. Shark activity came and went, but as the other vessels in the area headed home for the day, the copper sharks were ours for the taking! And they showed up in their numbers! With 7 circling the cage at one point, our divers didn’t know which wat to look!!

Our third trip today was an exclusive trip with a family of 14 visiting from the United Kingdom. Wait for it… We had a White Shark on this trip!!!!!!!!!!! Feisty was back, the 3.5m male we had a couple of weeks ago. This guy was one of the sharks we tagged in 2016 and had become entangled in line. He is still entangled so we hope to continue to see him over the next few days, monitor the situation and hopefully do something about it. But feisty by name feisty by nature. He was a great shark to watch this afternoon and a sigh of relief to have a White shark back in the bay. Hopefully we can build on this in the coming days!!

If you are looking to get up close and personal with the great white shark then Cage Diving in South Africa, and more specifically with Marine Dynamics, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you won’t want to miss.
