Little bit of a later start today with the tides running low, Dream Catcher launched from Kleinbaai harbour at 9:30am. We arrived on anchor into the Shallows and had a Copper shark and Short-tailed stingray arrive quickly before things started to get slow on the shark front. With an anchor change in mind we prepared to move just as Mini Nemo, a well known male currently in the bay appeared, deep before cruising on by not to be seen again for the rest of the morning. On our second anchor of the morning we picked up three other sharks including our most interested of the trip, a male similar in size to Mini Nemo and sporting the identifiable marking on its right flank in the form of a long, darkly pigmented scar. This shark came and went for the rest of the day, slowly moving around the boat, diving deep before taking a few chances on the bait or decoy line. We also encountered another male, this one only seen twice around the boat previously in recent days but easily identified by the many dark scars over it’s head and running down its trunk, it unfortunately did not stick around, not giving us a good view but enough to see which shark it was. Excitingly a new shark was identified for the month today with the arrival of a darkly coloured, approximately 3.5m White shark that was very much a shy individual, keeping it’s distance from the cage and boat and only once passing close by the back of our vessel.
