As we launched out of Kleinbaai we had a sharky feeling about us today! And after getting the cage into the water and the divers in their suits, we had reason to be. The crew aboard Slashfin saw a distant silhouette of a great white shark. However it seemed like this shark was content on being a bit cryptic this morning as it decided that was that for the day and of it swam into the depths. Nevertheless we had some stunning copper sharks to keep us busy with, with activity progressively increasing through the trip. These sharks showed off their true potential on some of the passes with some tremendous speed. All our divers got to see these stunning sharks under the water today, and with some very happy cage divers, we headed round to Gansbaai harbour to drop off our guests due to the low tide.
Because Kleinbaai has a natural harbour, we had to wait a short bit for the water in the harbour to rise before we were able to head out. Once ready, we headed back to our dive site and quickly fixed the cage to the side of the vessel. Our divers got into their wetsuits and we waited for the first sharks to arrive. Once we saw the glimmer of the first sharks, our divers jumped into the cage and our crew guided the sharks in front of the cage. Towards the end of the day, by which time everyone had a chance to go into the cage, we headed back to shore, where our guests finished their trip with some nice vegetable soup and homemade bread.
