A lovely start to the day with sharks seen from the boat within 15 minutes of anchoring, and this wasn’t just any shark but “Malcolm X” a fesity 4.0m or so female that is known well by those at Marine Dynamics. This trip also was lucky enough to see one of the satellite tagged sharks, “Maureen”, an impressive female tagged in Gansbaai in 2012, unfortunately it appears that her tag is not pinging in any more however we easily recognise her, with her most distinguishable feature being that she is missing the lower lobe of her caudal fin, and we general expect to see her at this time of the year as she makes her migration off this coast line to Madagascar and back. The second trip of the day launched with hopes of a repeat of what the morning group had seen, but of course dealing with nature you never know what we might end up seeing. We arrived at our cage, that had been left in the water from the earlier trip and low and behold a White Shark was circling it interested in this object floating in the water. A good start to the afternoon, our divers quickly got into their wetsuits and by the time we ad our first 8 divers in the cage we had seen five different sharks, including the largest of the trip a 4.4m female. The visibility had decreased throughout the day yet whilst it had gone down by approx 50% since the morning, all our divers got that special glimpse of one of the most magnificent marine creatures…
