Up bright and early for some sharks this morning! And it did not disappoint through the whole day. As we approached the shallows with the sun climbing in the sky this morning we got a copper shark very quickly around Slashfin. As our divers got ready and into the cage the copper shark was joined by another curios copper! With some nice close passes by the cage we were delighted about the activity. Then out of nowhere little Scarlett cruised out of the murk straight for the bait line. This magnificent 4m female great white shark cruised around Slashfin here and there for around 15 minutes, and then she was off to enjoy the rest of her morning. The copper sharks returned soon after, joined by a stingray and a seal. With 2 southern right whales off in the distance and on the way back into the harbour we were spoiled for choice for wildlife sightings this morning.
Our second trip headed out and also encountered a southern right whale mother calf pair on the way to the shallows, an incredible encounter to see. The little calf curiously spyhopping beside its mother. As we approached the shallows we got ready to get the cage pulled onto the side of the boat and got our divers geared up. Again the copper sharks were out in full force with some very curious ones checking out our divers, much to their pleasure. We also got a cheeky cape fur seal around the boat and a stingray again on this trip!
For our final trip of the day, it appeared we were all about the bronze again! With some stunning activity from the copper sharks, our cage divers were face to face with sharks of superior quality. Its always exciting to see the different behaviours of the different shark species, and the copper sharks seemed eager to demonstrate what they have to offer. As we dove all our cages with sharks this trip we were all a happy group and head back into the harbour for some lovely soup!
