A bit of early morning shark cage diving for our first trip today with Slashfin launching at 8am. We headed into the shallows and found a spot before anchoring and beginning the waiting game. We waited close to two hours before deciding to try a different spot, unfortunately this spot too did not hold any luck for us so we moved yet again and third time lucky we had our first shark appear. It was hard to miss thanks to the clear waters and the fact that this smaller female shark’s dorsal surface was very dark in colour! What a lovely shark for the first shark of the day she was! However she did not stick around for long. We also had a smaller shark come by for the last two cages, yet this shark was on the shy side and would not come close to the cage and preferred to cruise by about 10m away from the divers and of course out of their view. The second trip of the day headed out with the wind and choppy waters increasing. This increase did not deter the sharks and the first one was spotted within 30 minutes. This was “Ingrid” the large female with propeller damage to her dorsal fin, who made a few slow passes before continuing on her way! Moments later a large male came into view followed shortly after by two other individuals. The sharks were still a tad on the slow side this afternoon and took it in turns to come up and make their way by the cage, the great visibility we had today came in handy as even if the sharks were a bit deeper we could still see them nicely. Last but not least a great big Happy Birthday to Lucy who joined us this morning on Slashfin and celebrated in style with the White sharks…
