We headed out this morning into a slight drizzle but that didn’t dampen our spirits! We arrived at the shallows having already geared up, so we got to know the area a little better and waited for our first shark. She didn’t take long to arrive, a 2m female, that we have been seeing over the last few days, she had some nice passes by the cage as well as a few strikes on the decoy line! While we got our second cage in we saw another shark, this time a little bigger at 2.5m. this shark has a bit of fishing line trailing from the right side of her mouth. We shall monitor but hopefully it falls out of its own accord shortly. She seemed to disappear for a moment or two where a pod of 30 common dolphins joined us on their travels through the bay. With a low tide today we went over to the island where we saw a raft of 10 African penguins as well as a whole herd of seals that call Geyser rock home. A successful trip with 4 out of the Marine Big 5 sighted.
We rode over a few small waves as we headed out to sea, but we soon we were back at our dive site for our second trip. Once the cage was attached to the vessel and our divers had their wetsuits on, it wasn’t long before we had our first visitor around the boat, a curious Copper shark briefly came around. Luckily it’s bigger cousins, the white sharks soon arrived. With a total of three white sharks, including our repeat visitor Clubtail, we had a nice and decent trip out to sea.
