Location:
Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: 14.0C
Depth: 8.9m
Visibility: 1m
Number of Sharks: 1
Conditions:  Choppy around the island which is why we headed to the shallows waters in Joubertsdam

Wind and swell was still up this morning and and because of that we went to Joubertsdam as we were sheltered in that diving area from the southerly winds. The visibility was a bit limited because of the swell but we were very lucky to see a shark 35 minutes after getting on anchor! It was a male shark estimated to be about 3m in length and we were able to get some nice shots above water as it showed its jaws quite a few times investigating the decoy and the bait. The shark stayed around and came back a few times. Halfway through the trip we spotted a Southern Right whale in the distance, about 1km away from the boat. We also spotted a group of seals making their way back towards Geyser Rock, home to more than 60,000 Cape Fur seals.

If you are looking to get up close and personal with the great white shark then White Shark Diving in Gansbaai, and more specifically with Marine Dynamics, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you won’t want to miss.
