Conditions: A chilly day at sea, with the sun breaking through the clouds and a bit of swell.

Pink and purple skies, sharks, stingrays, and seabirds- what a superb way to begin our day! As we launched out of Kleinbaai Harbour the sunrise speckled the bay with pink and purple light. With such a stunning launch, we were optimistic that today would be a great day, and mother nature did not disappoint! Within 30 minutes of anchoring, a 3.8 meter white shark snuck up on us and flew out of the water. What a way to start the day! The activity continued throughout the trip, growing a bit quiet towards the end. We had visits from 4 different white sharks this trip, ranging in sizes between 2.5 meters to a stunning 4.8 meter beauty. We also had a visit from a short-tailed stingray as well as a juvenile albatross. A terrific morning at sea for all!

The second trip of the day launched to clear skies and a stunning blue sea and, after only 20 minutes we found ourselves at the dive sight. After a mere 15 minutes wait, we had our first Great White Shark arrive, which was a large female of around 4m. This big girl was very interesting in that she had many parasites on her, with her face, back and dorsal fin all having a couple of spots that some pesky copepods had colonised as their own.  Minutes later we had our second animal of the day pop up, with this cool dude being a regular around the boat at the moment, the most distinctive thing about this White is the bite mark on it’s gills, so, we taken to calling this active beauty “Bitey”. We went on to see two more sharks, both around the size of 3.5m, with the activity absolutely cooking.  We always feel pretty privileged when these animals are a little more active around the boat as some sharks only check us out from below. After an amazing trip, we head back to the harbour.
