Trip 1
The day started early for the Marine Dynamics team and the guests who would be joining us on our first shark cage diving trip of the day. Good thing the sharks also seemed to be wide awake and active this morning with only a 20 minute wait till that exciting glimpse of a shadow was spotted. This mornings trip was dominated by the juveniles, however small they may be these are the playful ones that we all love to see around the boat, with one of our well known small females showing up half way through the trip, one that has recently been named “Sarko”.

Trip 2
The second trip of the day headed out and had it’s first shark around the boat only 10 minutes after we arrived. This was a large female we encountered on our last trip yesterday afternoon, however the activity that she displayed today was so different than the shy shark we saw only a day early. This 4.0m female made it her mission to absolutely wow everyone on board today as she disappeared into the depths for a few minutes at a time before making dramatic returns as she made mutliple attempts to approach our bait and decoy line, launching half or more of her body out of the water. It has been a while since we have seen such a large active shark! We also had a smaller female visit towards the end of this trip which was “Mandy” one of our favourites in the bay at the moment, however, possibly due to the presence of the large female shark she did not stay around long.

Trip 3
The third and final trip started off well with the large female from the previous trip being sighted just after we got back to the Shallows, she took her time coming up again keeping deep and just giving us glimpses of a big, dark shadow cruising by. She was not as active as the second trip yet she still decided to pull out some awe inspiring leaps out of the water for this new group. We also had two other females around this trip, about a metre smaller than the large female and not as active. One of these little females was the newly adopted “3Bird” who we are always happy to see turn up at the boat.
