The first trip of the day was an early one as the crew and two families from the United States headed out onto the water with the rising sun. The bay was calm and quite and with the light of the early morning it appeared to be the perfect time to see if we could get a breach on our seal decoy. Slowly towing a not so tasty foam seal cut-out behind us we patiently waited with eyes and cameras focused on our seal! It looked as if we would be out of luck after 20 minutes yet as we started to get distracted out of nowhere and with no warning a female White shark nick named “Sarah” by the families on board launched herself out of the water with the seal decoy in her mouth! It is as if time slowed down as we watch such a graceful, magnificent yet powerful event take place. A very lucky start to the day! The luck continued with this trip with a number of sharks approaching the cage and divers, the most active individual on this trip was the juvenile we have been seeing for close to two weeks now with hook and fishing line attached to its dorsal fin. The second trip of the day also had some great activity with the active juvenile from the first trip still present and still entertaining those out on the water. This group was also very lucky to meet “Mini Nemo”, who just like our previous juvenile, makes up for what they lack in size with their FINtastic behaviour. The final trip of the day arrived to find that yet again our juvenile with hook and line was still present, we are seeing so much of this shark lately that we might just have to give it a nickname! This trip also saw two males 3.0m plus in length and along with the smaller individual all were active and curious with the activity of the boat on the water. A truly spectacular day spent with some large, fishy and friends…
