When working with wildlife, you never know what you may see in the bay. After yesterday’s trip without seeing any sharks, we were hopeful that we would have some sea life visiting us. We were lucky that we were able to spot some different animals, unfortunately though the sharks were elusive again and we did not have any sightings today. We did however get to see a box jelly, 3 humpback dolphins, and several seabirds, including over a dozen Hartlaub’s gulls, 2 grey headed gulls, 1 giant petrel, and 3 skuas. We also took a trip through shark alley to see the favourite prey of the white sharks, our colony of 60,000 cape fur seals that call Geyser rock home. On the way back in to the harbour a few of us were also lucky to spot 3 African penguins swimming by. While it wasn’t the shark filled day that we were hoping for, we were thankful for all of the other sea life that we were able to see. Thank you so much to all of our shark cage divers for being so understanding about the wildlife. We are extremely hopeful that tomorrow will not just be a new day, but a sharky day!
