It was a chilly start to the morning but that wasn’t going to stop our divers from enjoying their time out on the water with White sharks. The first shark of the day was a juvenile female with a scar above it’s right eye that we first saw yesterday. This little shark was quite curious yesterday and spent most of the time in our view however today she was a bit on the slow side coming and going but when she was around she was happy to be close to the surface and cage for all to see nicely, she has been nicknamed “Little Smithy”! The second trip of the day started off a bit slow this afternoon with one of the current regular visitors, a juvenile female with parasites coming by for a visit! Given some slow activity we made the decision to move and the decision paid off with three other sharks joining us for the afternoon. A fantastic arrival for all on board was that of “Ingrid”, a large female White shark well known to those at Marine Dynamics and an animal that received an extensive dorsal fin injury earlier on in the year. Great to see her back in the bay, healing well and also appearing as if the injury has not affected her behaviour too much! Welcome back Ingrid! We also had a slightly smaller female come on in that we recognise from the Winter season at the Island. This female was easily recognisable by some scarring on the side of her face, she now has fresh bite marks from another shark to the top of her head. Just like Ingrid we believe she should recover nicely, sharks are quite robust animals and bounce back well from many minor wounds, as seen in one of our previous studies here. A very exciting day out on the water for all…
