We set out early this morning eager to catch up with everyone’s favourite coppery Cartilaginous fish, dropping our anchor at 08:04 am and then waiting in anticipation for our first sight of one of these apex predators. We’ve been having some nice lucky with our Copper Shark sightings over the last few days, and after only about a 10 minute late, we had our first Bronze Whaler show up almost on que. From there on out, we had the sharks around throughout the tour, which made for some incredible dive opportunities. The water is still looking a little milky, but it seemed to be improving throughout the tour. We had some beautiful big females around, who were strutting their stuff and giving us some great looks as they approached the boat for a closer investigation. We also got to see some smaller coppers, which are really a cute sight to behold. Later on in the tour, a Cape Fur Seal joined in on the fun, messing around in front of us and eventually catching herself a fish at the back of the boat. Once everyone had had a chance in the water, we set our sights back on land to welcome our next group of eager divers.
And once again Slashfin was on its way to see some beautiful sharks. On the way to the dive site we were greeted by a Southern Right Whale and hundreds of Cape Cormorants who were making their way from mainland to their breeding site at the Dyer Island. Once we reached our dive location our guests were given their wetsuits and were ready to enter the cage at the first sight of the sharks. Copper sharks did not make us wait too long and divers were thrilled to enter the cage that was already attached to our boat. The water was nice and warm, so the guests could enjoy their experience even more. Straight after the sharks we were visited by a Cape Fur Seal once again and as usual she gave us quite a performance playing around the boat. While divers in the cage were enjoying the copper sharks, the rest of our guests were entertained by a Southern Right Whale calf breaching in the distance. Once everyone got to enjoy the incredible animals visiting our boat, the crew lifted the cage onto the boat and we headed back to the harbour. Our excited divers were welcomed back at the Great White House with some delicious soup and home-made bread.
