We were back at the Islands today, our Winter diving area and although the site and sharks were what we might expect in Winter the weather was as beautiful as any Summer day! The trip got off to a good start with our first shark of the day arriving not too long after everyone had suited up. This was a male that we saw yesterday and he was quickly followed by two other sharks, one a little smaller, the other a very large female that wowed those on board. We had an interesting visitor to the boat close to half way through the trip in the form of a small yet inquistive female White shark that was happy to check out her surroundings and closely investigate the cage and divers as she slowly approached the boat and glide by having a look around, so close we could see the pretty blue iris of her eyes! We also had a Short-tailed stingray around every now and again, something we see in the Shallows on a regular accurance but not so much around the Islands, and whilst it didn’t spend the entire time in view our guests had a few good views as it came up under the bait and decoy lines. Before heading back to the harbour we swung by Shark Alley to see some of the areas other inhabitants, the very abundant Cape Fur seal. These animals appeared to be enjoying the sun today just as much as we did as they bathed in the warmth on the rock. The afternoon trip today was the third trip for the visiting research group for Italy , who enjoyed the beautiful day on offer and gathered observational data and the White sharks that came and went from the boat throughout the afternoon. A stunning day out on the water with the stunning animals this area has on offer…
