With clouds lingering overhead and the sun occasionally peeking out, Slashfin launched in hopes of finding our sharky friends. As always, we hoped that the white sharks would be around, but it appears that they’re still being a bit elusive, not appearing at any of the boats in the bay. We were lucky to be blessed with the presence of several of our new friends, the copper sharks. There was a nice range in sizes, with the smallest being just about a meter long and the largest at about 3 meters long. They didn’t take long to show up and stuck with us throughout the day, giving everyone on board and in the cage some beautiful views of their sleek copper colored bodies. We also had a large short-tailed stingray appear in front of the cage a handful of times on our first trip, amazing everyone with its large wing span and acrobatic maneuvers; and also a huge flock of Cape Cormorants leaving Dyer Island for the day in their hunt for fish. It was another great day onboard Slashfin thanks to the diverse wildlife that can be found in our bay!
