Visibility: 1m + 1m

Number of Great Whites: 0 + 1

Conditions: Rolling swell but little to no wind and sunshine

We launched a little later this morning avoiding the rain and headed out into some stunning sunshine. While there was a little swell still coming through that didn’t dampen our mood to try and get close to some great whites this morning. We waited patiently this morning and were joined by lovely mother calf pair just off the back of the boat. They were travelling fairly casually towards the island area. Something we don’t see overly often aboard Slashfin!!! While we waited, we played some cage dive quiz with some of our eager guests onboard but unfortunately it wasn’t to be today. We headed over to the island for a quick check on the seals and a fun ride round and then ack to the harbour for our second trip.

We reached our anchor spot nice and comfortably aboard Slashfin this afternoon, and geared up ready to get sharky. The wait wasn’t long with guests spotting a large White shark approaching from behind the boat, it made it’s way over to the other side slowly revealing itself to be one of the female Great Whites we had seen last approximately 3 weeks ago. We estimate this animal to be around 4.2m in length and her sheer size was truly valued as she slowly glided by the front of the cage, turned on her side as if glancing up to have a good look at the boat and those on board before disappearing, not to be seen again for the rest of the day.
