Conditions: An icy winter’s day took a turn for the better when the sun came up.

 The first trip launched bright and early on this icy winter’s morning but the stunning sunrise definitely made up for this. Both the clouds and the sea turned a shade of pale pink and we were on anchor at 7:40. After waiting for quite some time and moving anchor we had our first animal arrive.  The first shark was a 2.5m beauty who stuck around for the trip as well as the next.

The second shark was closer to 4m and a little later we had a very large 4.5m female show up to the boat. She was definitely the highlight of the trip, giving us a really nice show when she breached after the bait.

On the second trip, it warmed up a bit which was quite nice. We had a shark pretty quickly and went on to see 6 more on the trip. The first was around 3m in length. The second to show was a large 4m female who had a really unique dorsal fin. The 3rd shark was the 4.5m female who did some stunning breaching for us. We got to see her launch herself at the decoy beautifully a couple of times. We also had a few smaller animals around 2.3m. 

On our last trip for the day we encountered seven different Great White sharks all of them were between two and three meter in length. After we reached our anchor site in the Joubertsdam area we were waiting just a short while before a small shark around two meters approached our vessel and was coming closer to the cage. During our trip we had constant great shark activity, they were actively trying to get hold of the bait and decoy. Some also passed our cage very close so we could have a good look at these apex predators.
