An early morning start this Saturday for our first group as we launched from Kleinbaai harbour and made our way into the Shallows. We waited on anchor for some time before our first shark appeared, a Copper shark sneakily coming from under the boat and making its’ way to the surface attempting to catch us off guard! The Copper sharks came and went throughout the trip, quite shy with many keeping deep but still cruising by every now and again. Before heading back to land we had some spare time to head out to the Islands and have a look at the inhabitants of Geyser Rock, the every entertaining Cape Fur seals.

The second trip made its’ way out to try their luck, the Copper sharks appeared quickly and sightings and activity followed similar to the earlier trip as the sharks dipped and dived in and out of view. This trip also took a detour away from harbour before heading back to land to visit those Cape Fur seals before ending their experience.

To finish off the day our third and final trip of the day launched and whilst the Copper sharks were first to appear and cruise around for sometime something larger was lurking as the first Great White for the day appeared, the estimated 4.0m female that we refer to as Scarletjie, easy to identify due to the scars all over her head and trunk and missing tip to the caudal fin. She wowed the Slashfin crew and guests with her attempts on bait and decoy line and she made approaches from the deep. A great way to end the day!
