This morning we had the pleasure of hosting the Zimmermann party. This group is headed by Pierre Zimmermann who helped in making our African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary become a reality. Pierre has been to the region in the past and had developed an interest in our conservation work after visiting the Great White House and wished to support one of the major projects being done here. We were most happy to have the group here today to show them some of the other aspects in the company including some shark cage diving! We were yet again out at the Island and the fantastic activity from the last few days here continued for our group today! Many different individuals coming by and amongst those some astoundingly big and beautiful White Sharks, including the largest of the morning, a 4.5m satellite SPOT tagged shark known as Maureen who made a very close pass by the right hand side of the cage, close enough for those in the water to see her pearly whites! We were also lucky enough to watch the release of a Giant Petrel that had been in our care at the APSS centre for approximately a month now as it was rehabilitated. A shark-tastic morning spent out on the water…
