Location: Gansbaai, South Africa

Dive site: Joubertsdam

Water temp: Moderate

Visibility: Poor

Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Short-tail stingray + Indian Ocean humpback dolphins

Summary: A low day of swell as we launched out of Kleinbaai harbour, with our first wildlife encounter occurring just metres outside the harbour! The typically shy Indian Ocean humpback dolphins were seen showing off, turning belly side up and breaching. Continuing to the dive site, we waited patiently for the Bronze whaler sharks to arrive, with a few arriving around the cage. Moving anchor, we got to tick off another species, the massive Short-tail stingray; a resighting of an individual that has been in the bay since 2018! Wrapping up the trip, we made our way back to the harbour, avoiding the increasing wind. Thank you to everyone who joined us on board Slashfin today!
